Says they believe Medina’s “candidacy best represents the core values of young progressive Democrats in our region”
SAN BERNARDINO, CA— Following a major endorsement announcement earlier this week from the California School Employees Association (CSEA) today San Bernardino Unified School Board Member Abigail Medina picked up crucial support from the San Bernardino County Young Democrats in her Assembly District 40 bid.
In a letter sent to Medina’s Assembly campaign, Rick Cordova Jr., President of the San Bernardino County Young Democrats wrote:
“Dear Abigail, It is my pleasure to inform you that the San Bernardino County Young Democrats (SBCYD) unanimously voted to endorse your candidacy to the California State Assembly.
“The San Bernardino County Young Democrats strive to ensure that our members play an active role in not only endorsing but also supporting your grassroots efforts to turn out young voters to the polls. SBCYD's mission to engage young voters in campaigns that reflect the values of our organization is a top priority for us. We believe that when young voters are organized, they can play an influential role in local, state and federal elections.
“We believe that your candidacy best represents the core values of young progressive Democrats in our region. Your campaign has shown our members that you are more than willing to invest, trust, and bring on young leadership in your efforts to win the Assembly seat in November.
“Our Executive Board is more than excited to officially work together to ensure you are successful this June.”
Significantly, today’s endorsement follows news that the Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO of San Bernardino & Riverside Counties, Community Action Fund of Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties and the California Teachers Association all endorsed Medina for Assembly.
